Main Event: Lightweight Bout

Charles Oliveira (-143) vs. Michael Chandler (+112)

All the hard work of submission specialist Charles Oliveira (UFC 262 odds: -143) could finally pay off on UFC 262. The Sao Paulo native has reeled off eight straight wins since his last defeat in the UFC back in 2017. Since then, Oliveira’s made his stamp in the UFC’s record books, currently having the most wins via submission in the history of the promotion with 14.

Elsewhere, former Bellator standout Michael Chandler (UFC 262 odds: +112) made his presence felt in the UFC in a big way by knocking out Dan Hooker halfway through the first round of their bout in UFC 257 this January. Although Chandler was given a direct line to the vacated lightweight title in no time, the three-time Bellator Lightweight champ is the real deal, sporting a rather impressive 22-5 professional MMA record, with 17 wins via stoppage.

Co-Main Event: Lightweight Bout

Tony Ferguson (+120) vs. Beneil Dariush (-154)

Speaking of Tony Ferguson (UFC 262 odds: +120), the DIY social media attraction’s stock has plummeted after back-to-back losses to Oliveira and Justin Gaethje. The window for “El Cucuy” to take another stab at the lightweight title is certainly closing and it won’t get any easier going up against his next opponent.

Fellow California resident Beneil Dariush (UFC 261 odds: -154) is slowly garnering praise for his body of work lately, with a six-fight win streak in tow; two wins via knockout and another pair via submission all before hitting the final round. The Iranian BJJ expert is also six years younger compared to Ferguson, which could be why the odds have favored more towards the fresher Dariush.

Women’s Flyweight Bout

Katlyn Chookagian (-143) vs. Viviane Araujo (+113)

The marquee fight in the women’s division sees Katlyn Chookagian (UFC 261 odds: -143) looking to capitalize on her unanimous-decision victory over Cynthia Calvillo last November. Chookagian has gone 2-1 since losing her title bout against Valentina Shevchenko, who’ll welcome a rematch with “The Blonde Fighter” after her fifth successful defense of the title this past April.

With a 10-2 professional record, Viviane Araujo (UFC 261 odds: +113) has two straight victories and is 3-1 since moving to the flyweight ranks. Although  Araujo’s UD wins over Roxanne Modafferi and Montana De La Rosa were nice and all, she did come out on the losing end of her big-profile UFC bout against Jessica Eye in UFC 245.

Featherweight Bout

Shane Burgos (-127) vs. Edson Barboza (+100)

Only four fights are slated for UFC 262’s card after the co-main event between Leon Edwards and Nate Diaz was postponed due to an injury that Diaz suffered earlier this month. Nevertheless, the main card kicks off with a stunning battle between perennial Fight of the Night featherweights Shane Burgos and Edson Barboza.

Burgos took home his third Fight of the Night purse last June but did end up on the losing end of a barnburner against Josh Emmett. Meanwhile, Barboza finally won his first fight at featherweight with a unanimous decision victory over Makwan Amirkhani. However, the Brazilian veteran did lose three consecutive bouts prior to that win, and Burgos looked much more impressive in his TKO victory over Amirkhani a year prior to Barbosa’s fight.
