EPL Race Update: No room for missteps in Manchester City vs Liverpool showdown.

Manchester City remains on target towards a historic quadruple. Liverpool is still in the running for their first Premier League in nearly three decades. But, Jurgen Klopp’s men have more to worry about than just scraping victories in the dying minutes. They depend on City now to waste points if the Reds are going to win the EPL crown. Read more about the captivating EPL two-team race between the Reds and the Citizens below.

Manchester City keeping up the pace after sweeping Cardiff City aside

City managed an easy 2-0 victory over Cardiff City while conserving their energy for the upcoming fixtures. Kevin de Bruyne and Leroy Sane scored for the Mancunians, proving that Guardiola’s rotation policy is accomplished as ever. It’s the team’s eighth victory in a row in the EPL.

City’s players have stepped into the rhythm they showcased last season. Pressure is doing little to weigh on them. Instead, they are cooly taking their opponents apart. Perhaps the biggest question for them at this point is whether they can prevent fatigue from setting in and sabotaging what they have already built.

Liverpool are back on top of the EPL

Before Matchweek 34, Liverpool lead the league by just two points, with the Reds just a point behind them.Liverpool can easily be overthrown by one good game from City this week. Once again, it was a bit too close for comfort. Liverpool won 3-1 away against Southampton. But, the winning goals came in the dying minutes. It’s something that has happened often over the last few weeks.

How the standings can change after next week

Manchester City travel to Crystal Palace for a match most would expect them to win. In fact, City’s only true derby until the end of the EPL is their meeting against Manchester rivals, United.

Meanwhile, Liverpool’s obstacle will be notably higher, as they meet Chelsea. Granted, the Blues are dealing with their own issues, including heavy criticism of their manager.

But, Liverpool lately have recorded narrow victories, usually in the late stages of the match. This leaves many wondering if their luck is running out.

There is still enough time for anything to happen. It is the Premier League after all. But, consistency is what Guardiola has chosen these players for. While City is the favorite to win, there is one more element that will be thrown into the mix. Both teams are still involved in the Champions League. Both maintain good chances of winning top honors. Is either of the teams strong to win both? Or, will this prove the distraction their opponent needs to distance itself?
