NFC East Predictions in the 2019 NFL Season
When it comes to drama and rivalry, there’s arguably no division better at producing and playing them out than the NFC East. The upcoming 2019 NFL season is going to be no different. The Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys, Washington Redskins, and the New York Giants will try their best to beat each other to a pulp, as they always do.
Making NFC East predictions this 2019 is a bit trickier than what the odds suggests. To provide some clarity to the ensuing chaos in the division, here’s a preview of the NFC East by Nitrogen Sports Blog.
Can the Eagles reclaim NFC East supremacy?
Philadelphia Eagles (-105)
Most NFC East predictions this 2019 for the Eagles will tell you that they are the team to beat in the division. The Eagles narrowly missed out on the division title last in 2018 as they finished second with a 10-6 record, but a healthy Carson Wentz and a stacked group of talented players on both ends of the field make Philly the team to beat in the NFC East this year.
The Eagles also made some improvements on their offense that ranked seventh last season in passing yards with 267.2 per game, adding running back Jordan Howard via a trade with the Chicago Bears.

The Eagles also selected running back Miles Sanders in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft to add depth to the team’s backfield. The Eagles’ stop unit was inconsistent last season, though, they will only need their offense to be decent in order to cover up the potential shortcomings of the defensive unit.
Sleepers: Do the Cowboys have what it takes to flip the narrative in the NFC East?
Dallas Cowboys (+140)
Last season was a “How about ‘em Cowboys” type, as they turned the corner in the middle of the campaign to win the NFC East. Trading for wide receiver Amari Cooper injected a tremendous boost into what was then a mediocre Dallas offense.
With Dak Prescott under center, running back Ezekiel Elliott in the backfield, and Cooper downfield, the Cowboys have a dynamic trio that should give opposing defensive coordinators headaches. It’s also for mostly the same reason why their fans’ NFC East predictions this 2019 for the Cowboys are glowing — and warranted.
An entire season of those three players on the field together should keep Dallas’ competitive every week.
Washington Redskins (+880)
The expectations aren’t that high for the Redskins, which is disappointing for a lot of reasons. It was just last season when Jay Gruden’s crew took off to a 6-3 record before a combination of injuries and plain underperformance derailed what was looking like a promising campaign.
In the end, the Redskins finished 7-9. Case Keenum arrives to Washington as it’s not-so shiny new starting quarterback, though, it’s fair to assume that he’ll lose that gig to rookie Dwayne Haskins at some point of the season.
Adrian Peterson is way past his prime at 34. Second-year running back Derrius Guice is set to make his debut after missing all of his rookie season due to an ACL injury, while tight end Jordan Reed will always be a threat, provided that he’s healthy for an entire year, which is something you shouldn’t be counting on.
The hope for the Redskins resides in their defense, which added linebacker Reuben Foster and safety Landon Collins. They also spent a first-round pick to get an edge rusher in Montez Sweat.
