Top 10 Teams Heading into the 2019 NCAA Football Season

    NCAA Football 2019 Favorites

Everyone’s excited for the 2019 NFL season, but before that is the appetizer: the 2019 NCAA football campaign. Last season, Dabo Swinney and his Clemson Tigers steamrolled over the Alabama Crimson Tide in the National Championship Game, and with Trevor Lawrence under center again for the reigning champs, it’s not a surprise why they are among the top chalks to win it all this year.

Nitrogen Sports Blog breaks down Clemson and nine other college football top programs this 2019 with the best odds to be the last team standing.

2019 College Football Season Top 10 Teams

    Clemson Tigers (+180)

Head coach Dabo Swinney has Clemson running like a finely tuned machine. The reigning champs have a lot of starters coming back on offense and some fresh talent ready to step up on defense.

With the historically good Trevor Lawrence under centeragain, expect Clemson to rack up a ton of points. Add in one of the best running backs in the nation, Travis Etienne, and the Tigers will be a force in 2019.

    Alabama Crimson Tide (+220)

As long as Nick Saban is in Tuscaloosa, Alabama is always going to part of the college football top 10 — just like this 2019. Saban will be out for revenge and hunting for a shot at his sixth National Title. Losing players to the NFL is common for the Crimson Tide.

But the program always replace them with top-flight prospects, thanks to the recruiting powers of Saban. Dylan Moses will most likely emerge as the next great defensive prospect from Alabama.

Like Clemson, the Crimson Tide will also have a returning starting quarterback in Tua Tagovailoa, who led them all the way into the national title game last season.

    Georgia Bulldogs (+900)

There is a buzz surrounding the Bulldogs heading into the 2019 college football season. Head coach Kirby Smart is now entrenched in his fourth year as the head honcho of one of college football’s top 10 teams in 2019, and the continuity is reaping positive results.

Quarterback Jake Fromm is expected to step into the elite class and deliver a monster season for the Bulldogs. They were good enough last season to make the College Football Playoff, and could get over the hump this year.

    Ohio State Buckeyes (+900)

Ryan Day will have big shoes to fill as he takes over for Urban Meyer. But he’ll be inheriting a team packed with talent. The Buckeyes’ new transfer quarterback, Justin Fields is the total package.

He has the skills to be an elite passer beyond college football. Stars JK Dobbins and KJ Hill are back for Ohio State’s offense that ranked eighth in 2018 in scoring.

    Oklahoma Sooners (+1400)

Transfer quarterback Jalen Hurts goes from one college football top 10 team this 2019 to another after going 26-2 as the starter for Alabama.

Now, the Sooners are hoping Jalen Hurts will bring that success to Norman. CeeDee Lamb should be the top target for the transfer Hurts. Lamb is coming off a 65-catch season with 11 touchdowns.

The Sooners should be able to move the ball with the best of them if their depleted offensive line gels.

Lincoln Riley had Kyler Murray in Oklahoma last season, but now that the quarterback is replaced under center by Hurts, do you think the Sooners’ offense will just be effective and high-scoring?

Sooners are going to be fun to watch and bet on in any case. Speaking of which, we have some college football betting tips to share with people who want to cash in on betting on the sport.

    Michigan Wolverines (+1600)

The Michigan Wolverines will have some holes to fill for the 2019 season. But head coach Jim Harbaugh has taken on even bigger rebuilds. Quarterback however, is a position that does not need to be filled for the Wolverines. Shea Patterson has pro skills and could lead Michigan to a conference title and beyond.

    Florida Gators (+2900)

Dan Mullins has promised the Florida Gators faithful that he will deliver a national championship. Right now, his team is mostly considered as a college football top 10 squad in 2019. After improving by 6 wins to go 10-3 last year, Florida is now in the hunt.

Former Gator quarterback and Heisman Winner Danny Weurffel, thinks UF has a hidden gem in Feleipe Franks. If he steps up and become a top level QB, the Gators will be dangerous this year.

    Notre Dame Fighting Irish (+3100)

The Fighting Irish are coming off double digit wins in 2017 and 2018. Brian Kelly’s team will have a bunch of returning starters and high level of continuity on the offensive line.

The fighting Irish offense nearly posted a potent 40 points per game last year and they could be even better in 2019.

    Oregon Ducks (+4000)

Senior quarterback Justin Herbert passed up a chance to be a top pick in the NFL and decided to stay at Oregon for one more year. The Ducks have a lot to be excited about in 2019.

They have a veteran squad including an offensive line with over 150 career starts under their belts. That experience is going to be huge for Oregon, which has one of college football’s top 10 2019 odds to win the national title.

    Auburn Tigers (+4000)

Last year Auburn had an up and down season. There were lofty expectations for the Tigers heading into 2018, but inconsistency on offense hampered them all year. An improved performance by the more experienced offensive line should do wonders for the Tigers rushing game.

College football is coming our way soon. Clemson and Alabama have seemingly owned a monopoly of national titles for the most part of the time since the College Football Playoff format was introduced, but other teams listed in our college football top 10 2019 programs can give the Tigers and the Crimson Tide a run for their own money.
