The Top AFC Teams in 2019
Last season the New England Patriots and the Kansas City Chiefs slugged it out in the AFC championship game. The Pats won in OT and rode the momentum of their 37-31 victory to a Super Bowl 53 title.
A season after having their latest Super Bowl parade in Boston, the Patriots are again considered as among the top AFC teams in 2019. The road to Super Bowl 54 won’t be easy, though, with the likes of the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns tugging on New England’s cape.
Here’s the top AFC teams in 2019 as listed by Nitrogen Sports Blog.
Kansas City Chiefs
Head Coach Andy Reid always has his teams at or near the top of their division. This year will likely be no different. The Chiefs were one possession away from Super Bowl 53.
And reigning MVP Pat Mahomes has yet to his ceiling, which is an exciting thing to hear for Chiefs fans and scary for the rest of the NFL.The Chiefs are +385 to win the conference.

We know the Chiefs can score, that’s why they’re definitely one of the top AFC teams in 2019, but their defense could be much improved in 2019. The Kansas City defense received an influx of new talent.
Tyrann Mathieu and Frank Clark will provide Kansas City with a new level of edge to go along with those all-pro abilities.
New England Patriots
Betting against the legendary combo of Bill Belichick and Tom Brady is not a smart move. They are constantly proving their detractors wrong. And what’s more impressive is that Tom Brady just doesn’t seem to age.

But Brady will be without one of his favorite targets going forward. Pro Bowl tight end Rob Gronkowski decided to hang up the cleats after the Super Bowl LII victory. However, the Patriots take their term “next man up” very seriously.

The Pats are always finding hidden gems. Plus, the addition of Pro Bowler Demarious Thomas will help fill the void left by Gronk and the suspended Josh Gordon. The Patriots are ready to defend their status as the best among top AFC teams this 2019. They are priced +320 to win Super Bowl 54.
The tides may finally be turning in Cleveland.
After being a bottom dweller for years, the Browns are heading into the season with buzz. Baker Mayfield looks to have both the skills and personality to take this team to the promised land. The Browns’ front office has done a fantastic job of surrounding the team’s franchise quarterback with enough elite talents to expect success.
The Browns, who are +400 to take home the Vince Lombardi Trophy this season, gave Mayfield a new menu of dynamic weapons. Odell Beckham Jr. and Kareem Hunt join Nick Chubb and Jarvis Landry to form a seriously dangerous offense.

They also improved their defensive line with the additions of Sheldon Richardson and Olivier Vernon. Look out for the Browns to make a leap forward in 2019.
For several seasons, the Browns were considered a dumpster on fire, unable to sort itself out as their misery got bigger every passing year. That has seemingly changed now. Just two years after churning out a pathetic 0-16 record, the Browns are now considered as one of the top AFC teams this 2019.
