3 Reasons Why the Buccaneers Will Take Down Dak Prescott and the Cowboys in Week 1 of the 2021 NFL Season
The reigning and defending Super Bowl champions are ready to take on the new NFL season. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are rightfully considered by many as the clear-cut favorites to win their Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. But what exactly makes the Bucs heavy favorites against the Cowboys and their prolific offense with a returning Dak Prescott under center?
Read on as we break down three reasons why the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will defeat the Dallas Cowboys in their Week 1 Thursday Night Football showdown below. And to be on top of all the developments from the NFL offseason and beyond, head on over to Nitrogen Sports Blog after this.
TB Stands For Triumphant Bucs
There’s no better marriage in the NHL than future Hall-of-Fame quarterback Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Not only do Brady and Tampa Bay share the same initials, but they also won a Lombardi Trophy together in the very first year of TB12’s arrival in Florida.
The Buccaneers, who are (-8.0) favorites to win Thursday night’s clash against Dallas, even have the fortune of most of their starters from the 2020 season’s title-winning roster back for another crack at the championship, meaning that stability in an already dominant Bucs roster gives a significant edge to them in the season opener over a Cowboys team that was utterly disappointing last year.
No Cause for Quinn-cern
Most fans are aware that Tampa Bay’s defense is second-to-none in the NFL. However, how does Dallas’ own D look after some tweaks in the preseason?

Well, the Cowboys hired former Falcons head coach and defensive guru Dan Quinn as their new defensive coordinator to give head coach Mike McCarthy more control on the offensive side of the ball. However, Quinn’s tenure in Atlanta ended on a rather sour note, with the Falcons’ defense barely able to keep up with the league’s high-flying offenses before he was released.
The Cowboys do not have any elite talents nor proven chemistry on defense, though. This should lead to the Bucs exploiting these weaknesses with their potent passing attack regardless of Quinn’s new defensive schemes that he brought to America’s Team.

Sailing Through Favorable Winds (and Wins)
The oddsmakers have never been against Brady for most of his decorated career and that has certainly rubbed off on Tampa Bay’s recent success. Last season, including the playoffs, the Buccaneers went a perfect 11-0 in games wherein they were favored to win by no fewer than four points (7-4 ATS).
The Bucs are currently well within the range of making that 12-straight victories are favorites to win by more than a field goal, and the Cowboys are far from the three teams that beat them at Raymond James last season. Those teams were the Chiefs, Rams, and Saints, with each of those standout franchises having made a Conference Championship Game appearance at least once over the past three seasons.
