Oklahoma Sooners vs UCLA Bruins NCAAF Week 3 Game Preview
Jalen Hurts is making it easy for the Oklahoma Sooners to move on from Kyler Murray. The former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback has been sensational to say the least in his first two games in Sooners uniform, and he’ll look to lead Oklahoma to its third win in a row to start the season when the team faces off with Chip Kelly’s winless UCLA Bruins.
Nitrogen Sports Blog takes a look at this upcoming game in Pasadena in this 2019 NCAAF Week 3 Oklahoma vs UCLA preview.
Oklahoma vs UCLA Week 3 game preview

Odds: Oklahoma (-22) vs. UCLA (+22.5)
What to know about the Oklahoma Sooners (2-0)
Oklahoma vs UCLA 2019 NCAAF Week 3 moneyline odds for the Sooners: -1515
Alabama transfer QB Jalen Hurts has been nothing short of an early Heisman Trophy candidate in his first two games for Oklahoma. Hurts has thrown for 591 yards with 6 touchdowns in his first two games for Oklahoma.
The Sooners routed South Dakota in their last contest. The offense, led by Hurts, ran roughshod over the Coyotes on the way to 70 points. Still, after a couple of impressive offensive performances and 119 points in just two games, the Sooners dropped a spot in the AP poll.
This is probably due to the competition not being up to snuff. Beating UCLA won’t impress anyone either. The Sooners should handle everything UCLA has to throw at them.
RB TJ Pledger underwent surgery on his right hand and will miss and extended period of time.
What to know about the UCLA Bruins (0-2)
Oklahoma vs UCLA 2019 NCAAF Week 3 moneyline odds for the Bruins: +788
The UCLA Bruins have a high profile coach, but not the win-loss record that’s expected to come along with it. Chip Kelly has the Bruins off to a slow start as the team has not looked good.
In week two, UCLA had only six plays that gained more than 10 yards. Fans are wondering when Chip Kelly’s uptempo and high powered offense will show up. Last year the Bruins went 3-9 and after this slow start, Kelly and UCLA are making the wrong kind of history.
- The total has gone over in 13 of Oklahoma’s last 17 games.
- UCLA is 2-6 SU in their last 8 games at home.
This is not the football life Chip Kelly envisioned after leaving the Oregon Ducks, but a win over Oklahoma will make people remember why the Bruins hired him in the first place. It’s going to be easier said than done — but it’s possible.
In any case, the Rose Bowl will be rocking from start to finish of Oklahoma vs UCLA game in 2009 NCAAF Week 3. Don’t forget to check out Nitrogen Sports Blog’s piece on how to bet on sports while you’re at it.
