NFL Odds: San Francisco 49ers (TBA) vs. Baltimore Ravens (TBA)
What to know about the San Francisco 49ers (10-1)
The Niners are building a winning streak again. After going down to the Seattle Seahawks in overtime back in Week 10, San Francisco has collected two wins in a row, including its 37-8 humiliation of the Green Bay Packers at home last Sunday. The Niners’ defense was unforgiving to Aaron Rodgers and company. Rodgers was held down to only 104 passing yards while getting sacked five times for a loss of 38 yards.
Packers running back Aaron Jones was also handcuffed, churning out a mere 38 yards on 13 rushing attempts. How San Francisco was able to silence an offense with a future Hall of Famer quarterback is further proof of the Niners defense’s strength. Lamar Jackson presents a challenge San Francisco has never seen before this season, but the Niners are also a threat to Baltimore’s stop unit. The 49ers are putting up 30.2 points per game, which is second in the NFL.
What to know about the Baltimore Ravens (9-2)
What is there left to say about Lamar Jackson? The Ravens quarterback was a ball on fire in Week 12, adding more to his MVP resume by almost single handedly destroying the Los Angeles Rams in a 45-6 road win. The Ravens have been an efficient unstoppable war machine of late, having outscored their last two opponents, 86-13.
Opposing defenses couldn’t take Jackson off the field, and their offenses couldn’t do much against the Ravens’ underrated defense, mostly because it’s being overshadowed by the magic Jackson is going on the other side of the ball. The Ravens have been tested by an elite defense before, too, so facing the 49ers is not exactly something that’s alien to them.
Back in Week 9, coming off a bye, the Ravens passed the acid test that was the New England Patriots’ top-ranked defense, scoring a 30-16 win at home over the defending Super Bowl champions.
Fantasy Football spin
- Raheem Mostert’s value mostly depends on the health of the other pieces in the Niners’ backfield — or Matt Breida to be more specific. With Breida out in Week 12, Mostert was able to rush for 45 yards and a touchdown on six carries. If Breida misses another game, Mostert can be treated as a deep-league flex.
- Gus Edwards is the Ravens’ insurance for Mark Ingram, but he’s got some potential to vulture touchdowns if Baltimore proves to be too much even for the Niners’ defense. The Niners are also just 25th in the NFL with 4.7 yards allowed per carry.
- The 49ers are 5-0 SU in their last five road games.
- The Ravens are 2-0 ATS in their last two home games.
