NFL Futures Odds Update After Falcons Trade Julio Jones to Titans

Julio Jones Titans trade update

Stud wide receiver Julio Jones asked to be traded from the Atlanta Falcons this offseason, and his wish was granted this past weekend when the Falcons shipped him to the Tennessee Titans. In turn, it’s time to find out how this NFL landscape-altering deal affected Atlanta and Tennessee’s chances of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy in Super Bowl LVI.

Read on as we break down the latest NFL futures odds after the Falcons traded Julio Jones to the Titans. And to be on top of all the developments from the NFL offseason and beyond, head on over to Nitrogen Sports Blog after this.

Atlanta Falcons

Odds to win Super Bowl 56: +5,000

Odds to win NFC Championship: +2,200

Odds to win NFC South: +769

As of this writing, the Falcons remain long shots to win the Super Bowl; let alone win their division. They have the worst odds amongst all NFC South teams in capturing the division crown this upcoming 2021 NFL season and will likely see their odds across all futures props tank even more following the Julio Jones trade.

Atlanta franchise quarterback Matt Ryan just lost his most dependable weapon downfield in Jones, who made seven Pro Bowls with the former league MVP as his play-caller. Ryan will definitely be put to the test having to work with a young receiving corps featuring the likes of Calvin Ridley, Russell Gage, and the fourth-overall pick at this year’s draft in Florida’s Kyle Pitts.

All things considered, first-year head coach Arthur Smith will have growing pains with the new-look Falcons this year and will not reap the rewards of the trade until further down the line. Atlanta received a second-round pick in 2022 and a fourth-round pick the year after that from Tennessee in exchange for Jones and a sixth-round pick in 2023.

Tennessee Titans

Odds to win Super Bowl 56: +2,500

Odds to win AFC Championship: +1,400

Odds to win AFC South: +117

Meanwhile, Tennessee has decent enough odds to win Super Bowl LVI and the seventh-best odds to win the AFC Championship to date. In addition, the Indianapolis Colts currently have slightly better odds than the Titans (+105) to with the AFC South this season.

The Titans’ odds will definitely improve in the next few days following the news of the Jones trade. They’re now packed with offensive weapons for QB Ryan Tannehill, with Jones now flanked opposite of top wideout AJ Brown to give opposing secondaries all sorts of fits.

The added arsenal through the air is also welcomed by running back behemoth Derrick Henry. The reigning Offensive Player of the Year won’t see as many stacked boxes in the line of scrimmage considering the danger that looms with Tennessee’s now-improved aerial assault.

All things considered, the Titans are in a great position to finally win their first-ever Lombardi Trophy this season given this recent trade. They’re just two years removed from their appearance at the 2019 AFC title game and are gearing up for an even better run all the way to the Super Bowl if Jones produces similar numbers to one of his many prolific seasons in Atlanta at 32 years of age.
