2021 NFL Week 2: Best Bet Winners

Derek Carr best bets W2

The second week of the new football season wasn’t short on upsets and shocking moments, and there are many bettors who’ll be laughing their way to the bank after how several games panned out on Sunday. That being said, let’s take a closer look at a handful of matchups that likely made a few people some big bucks from the gridiron action.

Read on as we break down the three best bet winners from Week 2 of the 2021 NFL regular season below. And to be on top of all the developments from the NFL offseason and beyond, head on over to Nitrogen Sports Blog after this.

Patriots coast past Jets as (-6) favorites

The starting quarterbacks may be different this year, but the enduring division rivalry between the Patriots and the Jets still ended in a victory for the boys from Foxborough. New York was simply outclassed by New England again, losing by 19 points after rookie QB Zach Wilson threw four interceptions against the Pats’ vaunted defense.

For all bettors who still believed that the Patriots are still a league above the Jets, they were easily rewarded with a classic blowout victory. Gang Green will travel to Mile High to take on the Broncos next, and everyone will be quick to pounce on the upcoming Week 3 matchup as a virtual freeroll bet against the struggling franchise from the Big Apple.

Raiders pull road upset over (-6.5) favorite Pittsburgh

Nobody expected the Raiders to spoil the Steelers’ homecoming game and yet here we are, with Jon Gruden and Co. coming away with a huge nine-point road win over a presumed playoff contender. Derek Carr has been phenomenal to start his 2021 campaign, as his 817 passing yards from his first two starts of the season set a new franchise record across a two-game stretch.

Is Vegas going to live up to its city’s reputation and continue to rake in the big bucks on the wagering front? The team will host the Dolphins in Week 3, with Miami coming off a humbling 35-0 shutout loss to the Bills. Siding with the Silver and Black against the spread has always been fickle, but perhaps they’re indeed the real deal this season and are worth a slot on many people’s parlay cards moving forward.

Texans hang on to cover wide (+13.5) underdog spread against Cleveland

Many people considered Houston’s Week 1 win over Jacksonville as a one-and-done deal, with the Texans mainly just taking advantage of a raw Jaguars squad with a new QB at the helm. However, the Texans fought hard enough against the formidable Browns this past Sunday that they should now be disregarded as an easy out every week.

Not only did the Texans cover the huge spread against them by way of a valiant 31-21 road defeat, they even held a seven-point lead over Cleveland before the end of the first half and trailed by just a field goal in the fourth quarter. Bettors beware, though, as the Texans will take on the undefeated Panthers on a short week this Thursday night and will likely be without starting quarterback Tyrod Taylor under center. The veteran play-caller suffered a hamstring injury in the second quarter and could be held out of action in Week 3.
