2020 NFL Survivor Pool Stories After Week 7

Week 7 NFL Survivor Pool Stories

We’re close to the halfway point of the NFL regular season, and thankfully, no games have been postponed or rescheduled due to the global pandemic. In turn, our very own NFL Survivor Pools are back to normal this past couple of weeks, with a good number of participants getting the axe in Week 7.

Nonetheless, unexpected changes to the league’s schedule will always be a possibility of throwing a wrench into our weekly survivor strategies. As such, we still highly encourage all players to know exactly what will happen to our survivor pools in the event of cancelled games in a given week by reading up on the subject.

Without further ado, let’s take a closer look at the data for our Survivor Pools through seven weeks of football, as well as our takeaways from all the action this past week:

Close Calls and Near Falls

Week 7 was a great week for football fans in general, as seven of the 14 games on the slate were decided by a single scoring possession. All seven of those contests delivered some heart-stopping moments, which nearly cost a huge chunk of our player base their survivor pool lives.

The Bills-Jets matchup, in particular, would’ve spelled doom for the majority of our players, as between 40 to 50 percent of our participants in each of our pools in Week 7 sided with Buffalo as an easy survivor pick over the bumbling Jets. Luckily, Josh Allen and Co. staved off any late rally from New York, saving many players from survivor elimination in the process.

And Then There Were Five

There were six players remaining at our NITROGEN Pool after six weeks of action, but that number is now down to just five participants. What was it that caused one player to drop out of our contest?

Apparently, that unlucky fellow went with the Atlanta Falcons as a surefire winner over the Detroit Lions. As it turns out, the Falcons should never be counted on to win even against inferior competition, as Sunday marked the third time this season wherein Atlanta lost a game after the team had a 98 percent chance of winning come the final quarter, only to implode in embarrassing fashion.

Some games to look forward to in Week 8

Tennessee Titans at Cincinnati Bengals

There are several participants who’ve already locked in the Tennessee Titans in the previous weeks, but Week 8 appears to have the easiest matchup for the Titans over the next few weeks. Although Week 7 saw Tennessee suffer its first loss of the season and Cincinnati put up a good fight against Cleveland, this upcoming matchup could not be more lopsided record-wise.

Another game worth considering is the 5-1 Packers going up against the 1-5 Vikings, but divisional matchups will always be more unpredictable than mere inter-conference showdowns.

New Orleans Saints at Chicago Bears

The Saints and the Bears have a combined record of 9-2 thus far and with each team having just two defeats apiece to their names. However, many believe that these two teams are not living up to their preseason expectations.

Chicago has the benefit of being at home for this Week 8 clash and could very well face a New Orleans offense still without its top receiver in Michael Thomas. The Saints, meanwhile, are on a three-game win streak despite not having star wideout Michael Thomas on offense.

The competition will only ramp up for both of them soon, which could persuade some survivors to side with either of these two relatively underperforming teams once and for all, making for a smoother transition towards the latter half of the survivor season.

For all those who have survived, make sure you lock in your picks this week! Good luck!
