2020 NFL Survivor Pool Stories After Week 2

2020 NFL Survivor Pool Stories After Week 2

Week 2 of the 2020 NFL season didn’t bring us the kind of upsets which went down in Week 1. There were underdogs who came away with wins, but none were of the same stunning quality of the Jacksonville Jaguars taking down the Indianapolis Colts right out of the gate.

By and large, Week 2 was peaceful over at the Survivor Pool front, relatively speaking. In fact, each buy-in Survivor Pools has a casualty rate of five percent or lower from Week 1 to 2.

The could have been more entries making it to the third week of the season if only some of the eliminated entries’ users made their picks before the deadline. So, let this be a reminder to everyone in all pools who are still in contention to make your picks before the cutoff time every week.

Let’s now jump into some of the most intriguing takeaways from Week 2 of Nitrogen Sports NFL Survivor Pools.

The Storm Came Before The Calm

As noted earlier, if you were looking for carnage in the pools for the second week in a row, you’d have to wait for at least another week, as only the Free Pool had a casualty rate of over five percent when comparing Week 1 and Week 2 survivors. The biggest favorite — or those teams favored by at least six points — heading into Week 2 all won in their assignments. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tennessee Titans, Green Bay Packers, San Francisco 49ers, Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs all emerged victorious as chalks. The Chiefs and the Jags gave must have had some users on the edge of their seats, but managed to avert upsets by winning against the LA Chargers and Jacksonville Jaguars, respectively, by a combined lead total of just six points.

Buc-ing The Odds

Speaking of the Bucs, Tom Brady and company made sure that five of six Nitrogen Pool Week 1 survivors would also get past Week 2. Five of the Week 2 survivors in that pool had the Bucs, while the other one picked the Buffalo Bills, who escaped with a 31-28 win against the Miami Dolphins.

Carr Trouble

The Hall of Fame Pool saw just one eliminated entry in Week 2, and that entry’s user can blame the New Orleans Saints, who lost to the Las Vegas Raiders, 34-24, as four-point road favorites. The Saints couldn’t stop raiders quarterback Derek Carr from finding his targets, as he came up with 282 passing yards and three touchdowns — with no interceptions.

Some games to look forward to in Week 3

Miami Dolphins at Jacksonville Jaguars

We get it. These are two teams who look bad on paper and worse on the field. But sometimes, two bad teams make for an entertaining football battle. Plus, they competed well in Week 2 despite losing in their respective games. The Dolphins lost to the Buffalo Bills, 31-28, and the Jags to the Tennessee Titans, 33-30.

Kansas City Chiefs at Baltimore Ravens

Oh man, this game is going to be a banger! It’s the reigning MVP Lamar Jackson up against former MVP Patrick Mahomes in what should be a game that would have sparks flying all over.
