2020 NFL Survivor Pool Stories After Week 15

What a wild ride Week 15 was! Two major upsets occurred this past week; much to the dismay of a healthy portion of our remaining survivors at our NFL Nitrogen Survivor Pool contests. Let’s find out how big of an impact the wins by the Jets and Bengals were over the Rams and Steelers, respectively.

Kindly be reminded that rescheduled games can still occur in the final three weeks of the regular season due to the global pandemic, and this could mean life or death for our survivors in our pools. That being said, we still highly encourage all players to know what will happen to our survivor pools in the event of future cancelled or postponed games in the weeks ahead by reading up on the subject.

Now, without further ado; let’s now take a closer look at the data for our NFL Survivor Pools through 15 weeks of football, as well as our takeaways from all the action this past week:

Leaving on the Jets’ Private Plane, and Getting Caught in the Eye of the Bengals’ Storm

In what will go down as the biggest upset of the season, the winless New York Jets crushed many survivors’ dreams of winning the grand prize in their respective pools after the Jets humiliated the Rams at Los Angeles, 23-20.

And if Week 15 wasn’t cruel enough, Monday night also saw the Bengals stun the Steelers for the first time in 11 meetings, winning 27-17 at Heinz Field. Given the two unexpected upsets, a huge chunk of our remaining survivor population was eradicated in two swift blows.

Best of luck goes out to all who are still in contention to win within the final two weeks of the regular season. And, as always, be prepared for the worst – as what Week 15’s results would highly imply.

Congratulations to Our NITROGEN Pool’s Ultimate Survivor(s)!

As sour as the taste of the Week 15 upsets might be for most people, the last three survivors standing over at our NITROGEN Pool all emerged as winners for the week in a strange fashion.

All three players selected either the Rams or the Steelers to win this past week, and all three missed the mark. By virtue of the triple elimination, all three survivors will split the massive prize purse worth a whopping $206,500 or 9 BTC! That’s close to $69,000 in winnings for a three-way split between the three lucky competitors, which still beats having to be eliminated from the contest altogether with how the Jets-Rams and Bengals-Steelers games panned out.

Again, our congratulations and gratitude go out to those who participated in our high-stakes NITROGEN Pool contest. And for the rest of the survivors in our eight remaining pools: Godspeed to all of you in Weeks 16 through 17!

Some games to look forward to in Week 16

Cleveland Browns vs. New York Jets

Can the Jets catch lightning in a bottle in back-to-back weeks? Their shocking upset of the Rams makes them a spicy survivor lock in the penultimate week of the regular season. Then again, New York’s front office might rather opt to take another L and take their one-win season in stride the rest of the way, especially with their shot at drafting Trevor Lawrence with the first-overall draft pick in next year’s draft now in jeopardy.

That being said, the Browns are in perfect position to keep their run at full steam towards a postseason berth for the first time since 2002. Cleveland has won five of its last six games, with the team’s only loss being a five-point thriller against the Ravens. We’re pretty certain that Baker Mayfield and Co. have not been very popular survivor picks this season, and this matchup could very well send several of our remaining contestants into the final week.

Chicago Bears vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Following the Jets win, Jacksonville now has the edge over New York for the No. 1 pick at next year’s draft. The Jaguars have not won a game since Week 1 and are on a 13-game skid with no end in sight, especially considering that they’ve lost their last two games by an average of 27.5 points. Not only that, but the Jags will likely tank just as hard as the Jets to keep a firm grasp of the top pick the rest of the way.

As such, Chicago is pretty much in the same boat as Cleveland this week. The Bears have won two in a row and are still in the thick of the playoff hunt. We’re also more confident that they have attracted fewer survivors from previous weeks than the Browns as suggested earlier.
