2020 NFL Survivor Pool Stories After Week 13

2020 NFL Survivor Pool Stories Week 13

Topping Week 13’s headlines is the Pittsburgh Steelers seeing their bid for an undefeated season come to an end. But how exactly did the Steelers’ loss impact our Nitro NFL Survivor Pools in general? Were there a good number of survivors who sided with Mike Tomlin’s crew at the most inopportune moment?

As always, we remind everyone that rescheduled games can still occur in the remaining weeks of the regular season, especially with Weeks 12 and 13 having just delivered games off the regular season’s natural schedule. The pandemic-crippled year that is 2020 isn’t over yet, and so too is the NFL’s on-going campaign. That being said, we highly encourage all survivors to know what will happen to our survivor pools in the event of future cancelled or postponed games by reading up on the subject.

With that out of the way, let’s take a closer look at the data for our NFL Survivor Pools after 13 weeks of football, as well as our takeaways from all the action this past week:

Curtain Calls Courtesy of the Steel Curtain (and Lack Thereof)

It turns out that a good number of our remaining survivors heading into Week have already gone with the Steelers from the previous weeks, as only a grand total of six contestants were eliminated following the Steelers’ loss to Washington on Monday.

What’s funny is that six is also the same number of survivors who were eliminated across our nine survivor pools after simply failing to make a pick for Week 13. It’s a pity that these competitors didn’t even get a shot at last week’s action, so we emphasize yet again that our survivors need to stay on top of the latest developments for both our survivor pools and league activities in general, and one easy solution is for them to check out our Nitrogen Sports Blog more frequently.

Too Close for Skol Nation’s Comfort

The saving grace for the majority of Week 13 survivors was the Minnesota Vikings, who were chosen by over 40 percent of our entire survivor pool playing field. However, the Vikes nearly created an Armageddon of sorts in our contests, as they needed to win in overtime to dispatch the lowly Jacksonville Jaguars.

Minnesota was the first team to get the majority of votes from our survivor players despite having a record below .500 heading into their game. With most of the actual playoff contenders having been chosen in the weeks prior already, there should be more out-of-the-box strategies from our players for their Week 14 locks.

Some games to look forward to in Week 14

Washington Football Team vs. San Francisco 49ers

Expect a lot of people to hop on the Washington bandwagon this week following their stunning upset of Pittsburgh at Heinz Field. Ron Rivera and his gang are playing some great football of late – as is expected out of the team with the word “football” in its name – and they’re also still in the mix for the NFC East division title.

Next up for Washington are the Niners, who did not do so well in their Week 13 loss to Buffalo. While the Football Team has momentum on its side, there’s a high possibility that San Fran’s starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo will be able to return from his injury this coming week. But regardless of Jimmy G’s involvement in this upcoming clash, Washington will likely be a survivor darling in Week 14 in many people’s eyes.

Arizona Cardinals vs. New York Giants

Is it crazy to write off the Arizona Cardinals already? Perhaps that is indeed the case, as Kyler Murray and Co. are now on a three-game skid following their pivotal victory over the Bills in Week 10. Opposing defenses have blitzed the fleet-footed QB more often of late, which has translated into more losses for the Cards with Murray under constant pressure.

With that in mind, it seems that the New York Giants are actually viable locks this week despite their lackluster 5-7 record. The G-Men are neck-and-neck with Washington in their divisional race and are on quite a tear themselves with four-straight wins. Their defense isn’t too shabby either, currently tied for the third-most takeaways this season with 20.

Survivors counting on either Arizona to end their futility or the Giants to continue their late-season push will be hard-pressed to find a better matchup on the Week 14 slate this here crucial NFC showdown.
