Who Will Win NFL NFC North 2019?
The NFC North has had three different first place finishers the last three seasons. And all three of those teams are expected to be the top three teams in the division.
The Vikings, Packers and Bears all have their eyes on the prize in 2019. Nitrogen Sports Blog takes a look at these franchises and their respective odds and outlook for the upcoming 2019 NFL season.
Favorites: Will the Chicago Bears win NFC North in 2019?
The Chicago Bears were the class of the NFC North last season. The Bears’ defense smothered opponents in 2018. After adding Khalil Mack, the Bears looked like a defensive juggernaut. The 36 takeaways Chicago piled up was the highest total any team has put over the last five years.
The monster takeaway totals also proved that not only will the Bears stop you, but they’ll yank the ball out of you. There is also a lot of excitement building around running back David Montgomery. He’s a powerback with the ability to break tackles and carry the load for the Bears, who are the NFC North favorite team to win the division this 2019.
Quarterback Mitchell Trubisky took a big step forward for the Bears last year and earned a spot on the NFC Pro Bowl squad. The buzz from Bears camp is that the third year QB now has a veteran’s understanding of the playbook. Trubisky might have only scratched the surface of his capabilities.
Packers, Vikings, among 2019 NFL NFC North Sleepers
Green Bay Packers (+190)
For the Green Bay Packers, everything starts and ends with Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers was banged up last year. He suffered a concussion, a knee injury, still hobbled through basically the entire season with a broken bone in his left leg.
But as a testament to the incredible skill level and elite talent of the Packers’ signal-caller, Rodgers was still able to throw for 4,442 yards and 25 touchdowns against just two interceptions despite what his body had endured last year.
In the end, the Packers won only six games, though, they will be prime for a big bounce back as they will have a presumably healthier Rodgers back under center and a new head coach in Matt LaFleur — someone most people think is a better play-caller than his predecessor, Mike McCarthy.
Plus, RB Aaron Jones has emerged to give the Packers the ground attack they’ve needed for so long. The bottom line for Green Bay is that so long as Rodgers is healthy, the Packers’ chances to win the NFC North in 2019 is good at the very least.
Minnesota Vikings (+200)
Over the last couple of seasons, the Minnesota Vikings had Super Bowl aspirations and the hype to go along with it. But things didn’t go how they had it mapped out. Kirk Cousins did not deliver the offensive punch they were expecting, and a bunch of injuries have held them back as well.
Cousins is entering his second year as the starting quarterback of Minnesota, and the Vikings’ hopes of winning the NFL NFC North this 2019 is largely tied to how well their franchise signal-caller will fare on the field. Running back Dalvin Cook was one of the potential stars that the Vikings missed the most last season.
If he can avoid more bad luck, Cook could find himself in the company of the best RBs in football. With a dynamic WR duo of Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen already in place, a triumphant return of Cook could put the Vikings back where they want to be.
The NFC North has always been a division full of intrigue. In 2018, Matt Nagy and the Bears weren’t expected to improve right away to the point that they won the division last season.
Are we going to see another surprising ending in the division this year? Who will win the NFC North in 2019? It’s an interesting question to fans and bettors as well who are looking to bet on the NFL futures odds of the Bears, Packers, Vikings, and the Detroit Lions.
