Teams You Should Watch Out for in 2019’s Chengdu Major

    November 13, 2019 | Esports 2019-2020 Chengdu Major

The 2019-20 DPC is in full swing as the first major of the new season is due to start on November 16, 2019, in Chengdu, China. OG, the 2019 TI champions, will not participate in the first major, making this event a big opportunity for a team to get a good head start in the season. Nitrogen Sports Blog focuses on the Chengdu Major team favorites and sleepers.

    Chengdu Major favorite teams

    ViCi Gaming

ViCi will enter the Chengdu Major after a slightly disappointing showing at ESL One Hamburg. They dominated in the group stages, but were left looking disjointed in the playoff stages, and were sent home in the second round of the lower bracket.

Despite this, ViCi are by no means a bad team. Ranked by many analysts as the best team in the world after OG and considered as one of the top favorite teams to perform in the Chengdu Major 2019-20 season, their roster still has a lot to prove. Much of the competition in Chengdu won’t be as stiff as they’ve faced, especially considering the group seeding system.

ViCi have had time to practice since Hamburg, and will likely have a better showing at the first major of the season.

    TNC Predator

Without a doubt the best team from Southeast Asia. TNC Predator are still carrying the momentum from a recent victory over Gambit in the finals of ESL One Hamburg. After The International 2019, they picked up Kpii and March – two players that are no strangers to playing (and winning) on the big stage.

TNC looks even better than they did previously with their two new additions, and have had even more time to work on teamplay and strategies since their win in Hamburg. They will be viewed as the team to beat in Chengdu.

    Evil Geniuses

One of the biggest transfers after The International 2019 was the acquisition of Ramzes666 by Evil Geniuses. They were also able to pick up ex- Fanatic mid-laner Abed, giving EG a solid roster of some big names, albeit ones that haven’t performed the greatest in the past year.

They dominated the NA qualifier for this major, but we haven’t seen much else from this roster. If you go by the names alone, then EG could easily make a deep run and is considered the top favorite team at the Chengdu Major 2019.

The 2019-20 Dota Pro Circuit’s first Major will be this weekend. Thanks to various roster changes, we see certain teams now considered top favorites this season. Who’s your pick to win it this weekend?

    2019 Chengdu Major sleeper teams

After the former Team Liquid players left to form their own organization, Team Liquid bought the Alliance roster. Alliance had to act fast, and were able to pick up a decent roster. Just under three weeks after their acquisition, they were able to win DreamLeague Season 12 and put up a very good showing at ESL One Hamburg.

With a month of practice under their belts, the rumors are that Alliance is looking very good. While competition in Chengdu will be better than at either of those tournaments, if they are able to come out swinging, Alliance could surprise a lot of people.

    Team Liquid

The new-look Team Liquid — who is composed of Alliance’s former team — have had mixed results in their recent tournaments, but that doesn’t mean they won’t threaten for the title at the major. This new version of Liquid placed last at Hamburg, something which was considered a huge shock, after many had expected them to make a play-offs run.

We know that these players can play and win against the very best – and they could very well do that in Chengdu.

What do you think about these Chengdu Major teams? The event will start on November 16, 2019 and will conclude on November 24, 2019. If you’re new to esports, be sure to check our esports betting guide for tips and details to look out for when placing a wager.
