UFC Fight Night 154 breakdown
Renato Moicano vs Korean Zombie
Renato ‘Moicano’ Carneiro (13-2-1) is up against Chan Sung ‘The Korean Zombie’ Jung (14-5) in what is likely to be a bloody brawl.
Moicano’s scheduled appearance at UFC Fight Night 154 will come after a loss to former champ Jose Aldo, who stalked him around the octagon while delivering a sustained beatdown for throughout the match.
There’s no shame in losing to Aldo, and the beating showed off Carneiro’s heart and chin as he refused to go down despite being tagged hard repeatedly.
Jung earned ‘The Korean Zombie’ moniker for his ability to eat shots and continue to walk forward.
It was to his detriment as he was knocked out in the last second of the final round of his fight against Yair Rodriguez, succumbing to a vicious elbow.
Jung was clearly ahead on points at the time, but wanted to put on a show for the fans.
The Korean Zombie has since dropped down the rankings to 16th, while Moicano sits at sixth among all featherweights. A win could move Jung back up into the top ten.
Rob Font vs John Lineker
The UFC Fight Night 154 co-main is another battle between two hardened fighters. Rob Font (16-4) is facing a late replacement in John Lineker (31-9), who stepped in for Cody Stamann.
The latter dropped out due to a shoulder injury, with no news on when he’s expected to be back in the octagon.
The bantamweight bout is a rematch, following Lineker’s win at the prelims of UFC 198 way back in May 2016.
It went to a third round decision, but both are known for being knockout artists.Don’t expect that this showdown will go the distance.
The UFC’s first visit to South Carolina via UFC Fight Night 154 is highly anticipated. The headliner alone should be worth the price of admission, but there’s also a lot of intrigue and promise in the other fights.
