dos Anjos vs Lee promises to bring the fireworks in Fight Night 152
Rafael dos Anjos (28-11) is set to headline at welterweight.
Coming off a loss to Kamaru Usman, RDA needs a win to keep him in contention for one last run at the belt.
An interim title fight against Colby Covington that didn’t go his way marked a disappointing 2018, while he was dominated by current champ Kamaru Usman in his last bout.
He won’t get a rematch with Usman, but a win would leave him open to another shot at the belt once “The Nigerian Nightmare” is done recovering from a recent surgery.
Kevin Lee (17-4) is making the move up to welterweight following a loss to Al Iaquinta (14-5-1).
The former lightweight title challenger has struggled with his weight repeatedly in his last few fights.
Co-Main: Neil Magny vs Vicente Luque fight preview
Neil Magny and Vicente Luque will look to add spice, with a showdown under the Fight Night dos Anjos vs. Lee. matchup.
Magny (21-7) was knocked out badly by Santiago Ponzinibbio last time out, ending a two-fight streak. The number 13 contender will be hoping to put the Luque hype-train to bed.
Luque (15-6-1) is on a winning streak of four fights, finishing eight of his last nine opponents.
He earned a “Fight of the Night” bonus after beating Bryan Barberena, which also earned him a spot on the welterweight rankings at 15.
He’s a power puncher who continually puts opponents to sleep, and he’s never afraid to let his hands fly and pepper his opponents with vicious combos. He’ll be aiming to break into the top ten if his hot streak continues.
Magny is a wily pro with wins against some of the best fighters in the division, but he’ll need to avoid being knocked out badly as he was against Ponzinibbio. He’s a gatekeeper for the top ten, so we’ll soon see if Luque is the real deal.
The UFC Fight Night dos Anjos vs. Lee collision brings plenty of intrigue. Dos Anjos is trying to stay relevant in the UFC, while Lee is hoping to bounce back from a loss by testing the waters in a division he hasn’t fought before.
