What to know about Slovenia

Slovenia vs. Australia betting odds for Slovenia: -2

Slovenia was one point away from advancing to the gold medal game. But alas; Luka Doncic and Co. ultimately fell to France in the semis in heartbreaking fashion, 90-89.

Doncic scored just 16 points for his team; the third straight game that he’s failed to lead his side in the scoring department after dropping a total of 73 points in the first two games of the tournament. Nonetheless, the former MBA MVP candidate still finished with a triple-double line with his 10 rebounds and a whopping 18 assists.

The Slovenians are the second-highest scoring team in the event, scoring an average of 02.4 points per game. Their perimeter shooting will certainly be put to the task against an Australian team that has towering presences in the paint as they look to win their first-ever Olympic medal in men’s basketball.

What to know about Australia

Slovenia vs. Australia betting odds for Australia: +2

Australia just can’t seem to get over the Team USA hump, as the team’s 97-78 loss in the semis makes it six consecutive losses to the Red, White, and Blue in the Summer Olympics.

Patty Mills continues to be the top star for the Aussies, as he finished with team-highs of 15 points and eight assists in defeat. There’s plenty of NBA talent of past and present on the Boomers’ squad such as Joe Ingles, Aron Baynes, and Matthew Dellavedova, which is more than what the Slovenians can boast about on their roster.

In addition, three of Australia’s four wins in the tournament were by double digits. The team also blew away former Olympic standout Argentina by 38 points in the quarterfinals, making the Aussies’ lopsided loss more of an inevitable outcome against their long-time rivals and not a reflection of their performances against teams not named Team USA.
