NBA Trade Rumors 2019: Mike Conley to Orlando, Marc Gasol to Charlotte
The NBA Trade Deadline is around the corner! The current title-contenders are probably contented passing on some deals this midseason but there are players reportedly available in the trade market that these good-to-great teams might rethink the idea of staying pat at the deadline this year.
The cut-off for all NBA deals this year is on February 7, 2019 3 PM EST and there are a bunch of big name basketball players that are apparently being dangled in possible trades this season.
Which players will be with new teams post All-Star break? Which teams will aggressively trade their current franchise players and look for new ones or younger prospects?
NBA trades coming up and here are some names mentioned in the NBA trade rumor mill.
Marc Gasol (Memphis Grizzlies)
Grizzlies’ “grit and grind” has been Memphis’ battlecry the last half-a-decade with Gasol leading the way. But with their struggles this year and last, it could be time for the team to let go of their Spanish center.
Gasol is already 33 years old and has one and a half years left in his $113 million deal he signed before the start of the 2015-2016 season. If the Grizzlies are not going to contend anytime soon, it may be time for the team to hand over the franchise keys to their young big man Jaren Jackson Jr., who is 14 years younger than Gasol.
The Grizzlies currently sport a 20-30 win-loss record, the second-worst record in the Western Conference.
Teams rumored to be interested in Marc Gasol: Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards, Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings.
Mike Conley (Memphis Grizzlies)
Conley, who’s two years younger than Gasol, is on the same boat as the Spaniard; average-to-great player but his contract is so expensive that it might be better off for Memphis if they trade away their overpaid stars.
Conley has been an important part of Grizz’s “grit and grind” and is actually a very reliable point guard. But Memphis is not contending anytime this season or next few years. Memphis may want to go younger, tank some more to get high draft picks in the next draft and just completely rebuild.
Robin Lopez (Chicago Bulls)
The 31-year-old center is likely to be with another team before the trade deadline. But where will he go? It’s hard to tell at this point but the Chicago Bulls are shopping to acquiring new assets to slowly rebuild the team by giving up their veteran center.
The Golden State Warriors would be a likely bet for Lopez, but DeMarcus Cousins is finally on the team’s rotation and is providing what the Warriors lack – a strong presence on the paint. The Bulls are also looking at deals for their forward Jabari Parker, so pairing Lopez with Parker to make the deal more enticing could happen.
Teams rumored to be interested in Robin Lopez: Golden State Warriors, Boston Celtics, New Orleans Pelicans.

These aren’t the only players rumored to be traded this season. We have Anthony Davis who is now requesting a trade, and Luka Doncic performing well this season, Dennis Snith Jr. is looking to be more appealing as a trade asset more than a point guard.
