NBA Trade Rumors 2019: Anthony Davis to Lakers Before Deadline

    January 29, 2019 | Basketball Sports NBA Trade Rumors 2019

    Perhaps the most exciting time in the NBA season is here: the NBA trade deadline. This year, teams have until February 7, 2019 3 PM EST to wheel and deal — either to improve their respective rosters to prepare for the NBA Playoffs or improve their chances to tank and get that high draft pick.

    Which players are likely on their way out? Who’s swapping jerseys before the mid-season break? Which teams will be active around the trade deadline?

    The NBA trade rumor mill is about to go into overdrive for the next few days and here are the names often mentioned in possible trade transactions;

    Anthony Davis (New Orleans Pelicans)

    One of the top players in the league, Anthony Davis, has apparently requested for a trade — practically opening the floodgates on what could be a busy trade season before the deadline. If Davis is indeed on his way out of New Orleans, then playoff-contenders are likely looking hard at their rosters and searching for the best possible package to offer in exchange for the versatile big man.

    The most interesting and obvious rumor currently brewing is that LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers is the top team in the running. After all, the Hollywood team has a bunch of young guys (Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, and Lonzo Ball, among others), future draft picks or combination of such to offer the Pelicans.

    Teams rumored to be interested in Anthony Davis: Lakers, Boston Celtics, Chicago Bulls, and New York Knicks.

    Dennis Smith Jr. (Dallas Mavericks)

    Dennis Smith and the Dallas Mavericks are working things out after the point guard took a hiatus from the team. But with Luka Doncic performing well for the Mavs, he is now considered a key element for the team’s future. This makes the team’s relationship with Smith a bit tough. Smith is a great player with but is now a good asset for possible trades from now and in the future. Even if a deal doesn’t present itself before the NBA trade deadline, growing the young ball handler’s worth will work in the team’s favor in the long run.

    Teams rumored to be interested in Dennis Smith Jr.: New York Knicks, New Orleans Pelicans and Memphis Grizzlies.

    Kent Bazemore (Atlanta Hawks)

    Basketball fans have seen this before. Bazemore is the typical too good not to trade type of player especially with the Hawks leaning towards rebuilding with younger guys and prospects. Bazemore is currently on the injured list so it’d be tough to trade him before the deadline. However, the injury is not deemed serious and the shooting guard is expected to be back in the court this season.

    A playoff or title-contender can add a boost by adding Bazemore, who is known for his streaky shooting and should help teams space the floor with his outside sniping. If Atlanta can get a young prospect in return or a future high first round draft pick, the Hawks are likely dealing him sooner than later.

    Teams rumored to be interested in Kent Bazemore: Los Angeles Lakers, Milwaukee Bucks and Houston Rockets.
