What to know about the Atlanta Hawks

Atlanta Hawks vs. Philadelphia 76ers betting odds for Atlanta: +6

There’s plenty of fight left for the unwavering Atlanta Hawks, who clawed out of an 18-point deficit in the second quarter en route to narrowly winning Game 4 Monday, 103-100.

That 18-point deficit is the Hawks’ best comeback effort in the playoffs in half a century, thanks in large part to postseason superstar Trae Young. The third-year All-Star made just eight of his 26 field-goal attempts, but still finished with 25 points and a whopping 18 assists. That being said, Atlanta overcame a poor shooting night on the floor with a dismal 36.6 percent field-goal percentage.

On the other hand, the Hawks had their way in the paint instead. John Collins and Clint Capela finished with double-doubles and combining for 26 points and 25 rebounds. Atlanta also had terrific ball-handling, with Philly committing 12 turnovers to just four for the Hawks.

What to know about the Philadelphia 76ers

Atlanta Hawks vs. Philadelphia 76ers betting odds for Philadelphia: -6

Can Joel Embiid continue to fight through the pain in hopes of sending his Philadelphia 76ers to the Eastern Conference Finals? The three-time All-NBA selection, who’s dealing with a meniscal tear in his right knee, missed all 12 of his shot attempts in the second half and finished with just 17 points.

Embiid did, however, haul in 21 boards in Game 4. Unfortunately, those extra possessions didn’t amount to much with his fellow partner in crime Ben Simmons nearly having a triple-double stat line of 11 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists, but attempted just one field goal in the second half for the Hawks to stage their rally with relative ease.

Although blowing a massive lead hurts the Sixers’ confidence moving forward, it’s worth noting that their two wins in the series were blowouts themselves, whereas the Hawks won their two games by four points or less apiece. Only time will tell if Embiid’s ailing knee will indeed end up Philly’s undoing in the games ahead.

What’s your Atlanta Hawks vs. Philadelphia 76ers Game 5 prediction?

A lot hinges on Embiid’s health for the still-favored Sixers in this crucial Game 5 showdown. As such, perhaps siding with the Hawks to cover at the very least is just as viable a play, especially with Philadelphia’s shaken confidence against Nate McMillan’s feisty bunch.
