The first week of the 2019-20 NBA season is over and done. We have yet to see Zion Williamson on the floor in a regular season game, but the debut of the monster rookie will come eventually. For now, here are some of the best games to watch in the second week of the current NBA season as compiled by Nitrogen Sports Blog.
Best NBA Games to watch from October 30-November 3, 2019
Detroit Piston vs. Toronto Raptors Game Preview
When: Wednesday, October 30, 2019
Where: Scotiabank Arena, Toronto
NBA Odds: Pistons (+8.5) vs. Raptors (-8.5)
What to know about the Pistons (2-2):
The Pistons are not having a good start to their season, partly because their best player has yet to play. Blake Griffin remains sidelined due to knee and hamstring issues. Griffin’s absence has paved the way for the resurgence of former league MVP Derrick Rose, whose hot start may be unsustainable but is providing Detroit a much-needed spark while Griffin is out.
What to know about the Raptors (3-1):
After losing 2019 NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard, the Raptors will be looking for someone to step up and attempt to fill those giant shoes. But so far Pascal Siakam has given Raport fans hope. He won the league’s Most Improved Player Award last season and looks like he’s getting even better.
This Pistons vs. Raptors meeting is on our list of Week 2 must-watch NBA games this 2019-20 season.
Milwaukee Bucks vs. Boston Celtic Game Preview
When: Wednesday October 30, 2019
Where: TD Garden, Boston
NBA Odds: Bucks (-2.5) vs. Celtics (+2.5)
What to know about the Bucks (2-1):
The Bucks scored a huge 117-111 win in their first road game of the season over the Houston Rockets. Now, they look to remain unbeaten away from home when they take on the Celtics in Beantown. Giannis Antetokounmpo, the reigning NBA MVP, is once again putting up scintillating numbers. The Greek Freak aims to lead his squad again past Boston, which the Bucks trampled in the second round of the last playoffs.
What to know about the Celtics (2-1):
With Kyrie Irving and Al Hordord no longer in town, Boston may not be the contender it was a year ago. But Kemba Walker has given the team some great early returns and hope going forward. Boston’s defense is also looking sturdy so far.
The reigning league MVP going head-to-head against Uncle Drew? It’s all we need to know why this is among Week 2’s must-watch NBA games this 2019-20 season.
Houston Rockets vs. Brooklyn Nets Game Preview
When: Friday, November 1, 2019
Where: Barclays Center, Brooklyn
NBA Odds: Rockets (-8) vs. Nets (+8)
What to know about the Rockets (2-1):
The duo of James Harden and Russell Westbrook is arguably the best right now in the NBA, and the Rockets will need those two superstars to play like their MVPs selves to pull through an arduous four-game road trip that makes its second stop in Brooklyn this Friday.
What to know about the Nets (1-2):
The Nets made a big leap forward last season. Now with Kyrie Iriving on board and Kevin Durant waiting in the wings recovering from an injury, Brooklyn has made it clear that it is a team to be taken seriously. However, there seems to be some chemistry the Nets have to sort out, as evidenced by their slow start this season.

Philadelphia 76ers vs. Portland Trail Blazers Game Preview
When: Saturday, November 2, 2019
Where: Moda Center, Portland
NBA Odds: 76ers (TBA) vs. Blazers (TBA)
What to know about the 76ers (3-0):
The 76ers were one amazing shot away from becoming the Eastern Conference champs and punching a ticket to the 2019 NBA Finals. They think the addition of Al Horford will put the over the top. Joel Embiid could be the best center in the NBA right now, but he’s already missed a game this early in the season. The Sixers mix athleticism and size with scoring and defense to create a winning formula.
What to know about the Blazers (2-2):
There have been quite a few changes to the Trail Blazers’ roster. But the team’s heart and soul, Damian Lillard, still thinks they can do a lot of damage in the Western Conference. If new addition Hassan Whiteside lives up to the back of his trading card, the Blazers could be dangerous. However, they’ll have to improve on their early season perimeter defense. In any case, add this matchup to the list of Week 2 must-watch NBA games this 2019-20 season.
Utah Jazz vs. Los Angeles Clippers Game Preview
When: Sunday, November 3, 2019
Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles
NBA Odds: Jazz (TBA) vs. Clippers (TBA)
What to know about the Jazz (3-1):
Everything revolves around Rudy Gobert in Utah. He’s kept the team competitive while talking heads called them a rebuilding squad. Jazz have a possible breakout candidate in Donovan Mitchell. He could cash in on defenses be spread thin covering the team’s deep shooting lineup.
What to know about the Clippers (3-1):
Last year the Clippers surprised a lot of people when they put up a tough 6 game battle with the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs. And now they might have added the best player in the league. With Kawhi Leonard, the Clippers believe they’ll take the West and have thrust themselves into the championship conversation. They stormed out of the gates with impressive wins against the Lakers and Warriors. But showed they might need time to gel after dropping one to the rebuilding Suns.
