5 NBA Games to Watch from November 13-17, 2019
LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers continue to flash their mighty form, notwithstanding a recent stumble at home against the Toronto Raptors. They remain on top of the Western Conference standings to begin the week. Over at the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics and the Raptors have been dominant, though, the former will have to sustain their hot start minus Gordon Hayward, who’s out for the next several weeks with an injury. Nitrogen Sports Blog lists down some of the 2019-20 NBA season must-watch games of the week below.
Los Angeles Clippers vs Houston Rockets
When: Wednesday, November 13
Where: Toyota Center, Houston
NBA Odds: Clippers (TBA) vs. Rockets (TBA)
What to know about the Los Angeles Clippers
Probably the biggest game of the week, this is a matchup between potential Western Conference finalists. The Clippers have started their new era strong with a 6-3 record at the time of writing. Kawhi Leonard, in particular, has impressed as he is averaging 29 points, 5.4 assists and 8.1 rebounds in the regular season so far.
What to know about the Houston Rockets
The Rockets, meanwhile, are also 6-3 with James Harden being himself as usual posting an average of 37.1 points and 8.2 assists over nine games so far. Although Paul George is still not back from injury for the Clippers, Wednesday’s game will be a good indicator of how both teams match up with each other going forward.
- The Clippers are 3-1 ATS in their last four games against Houston.
- The Rockets are 6-4 SU in their last 10 home games against LA.
Brooklyn Nets vs Denver Nuggets
When: Thursday, November 14
Where: Pepsi Center, Denver
NBA Odds: Nets (TBA) vs. Nuggets (TBA)
What to know about the Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets have had an inconsistent start to the regular season. At the time of writing, they are currently 4-4. Of course, they are without summer free agent signing Kevin Durant who will likely be out for the whole campaign. However, fellow free agent signing Kyrie Irving has taken up the mantle with 31.9 points and 7.2 assists over eight games so far.
What to know about the Denver Nuggets
The Nuggets, on the other hand, have continued where they left off last regular season as they are 7-2 to start the campaign. Point guard Jamal Murray currently leads the scoring with 19.3 points per season. However, it’s been more of a team effort with their entire starting five averaging over 10 points so far. They will look to continue racking up the wins. The Nuggets also benefited greatly from Nikola Jokic’s late-game heroics in recent games.
- The Nets are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games against Denver.
- The Nuggets are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 home games against Brooklyn.
Washington Wizards vs Minnesota Timberwolves
When: Friday, November 15
Where: Target Center, Minneapolis
NBA Odds: Wizards (TBA) vs. Timberwolves(TBA)
What to know about the Washington Wizards
The Wizards have started the 2019-20 NBA season poorly. As of now, they are 2-6 to start the campaign and have lost their last two games. They are without star point guard John Wall who will be out for much of the regular season. Bradley Beal has since taken up responsibility with 26.1 points and 6.5 assists. However, the Wizards need to step up if they are to return to the playoffs next year.
What to know about the Minnesota Timberwolves
The Timberwolves are 5-4 and have been led by center Karl-Anthony Towns who is averaging 25.7 points and 12.2 rebounds. Andrew Wiggins has also performed well with 24.6 points. However, after an impressive 3-0 start, they have gone 2-4 since. If they want to achieve just a second playoff appearance since 2004, they will have to remain consistent.
- The Wizards are 2-1 ATS in their last three games against Minnesota.
- The Timberwolves are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 games against Washington.

Toronto Raptors vs Dallas Mavericks
When: Saturday, November 16
Where: American Airlines Center, Dallas
NBA Odds: Raptors (TBA) vs. Mavericks (TBA)
What to know about the Toronto Raptors
Despite losing Leonard and Danny Green, the Raptors are still playing like champions, which says a lot about how good of a coach Nick Nurse is. They are 6-2 for the season with their only losses coming on the road to the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks. Pascal Siakam, in particular, has impressed as he averages 27.9 points and 9.3 rebounds to start the season as an early MVP candidate. Defensively, they have been impressive, but they need to start winning the tough games on the road with Dallas being one of them.
What to know about the Dallas Mavericks
The Mavericks have started strong with a 6-3 record. Last year’s Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic continues to improve posting an average of 27.7 points, 9.1 assists and 10.8 rebounds over nine games so far. Kristaps Porzingis has contributed 20.1 points and 8.3 rebounds, showing he’s back to his old self.
- The Raptors are 3-1 SU in their last four games in Dallas.
- The Mavs are 4-0 ATS in their last four games against Toronto.
Atlanta Hawks vs. Los Angeles Lakers
When: Sunday, November 17
Where: Staples Center, Los Angeles
NBA Odds: Hawks (TBA) vs. Lakers (TBA)
What to know about the Atlanta Hawks
Compared to last season, the Atlanta Hawks have slightly improved. It took them 20 games to get just their fourth regular season win last year. As it stands, they are already 3-5 and look much better. Part of that is because of Trae Young’s continued improvement as he averages 26.3 points and 8.4 assists per game. However, getting that fourth win against the red-hot Lakers will not be easy. The lengthy suspension meted out on John Collins is a big blow for the Hawks, but this should only reveal how resilient is this young Atlanta team.
What to know about the Los Angeles Lakers
LeBron James and company have been on fire this season with the 16-time champions leading the pack with a 7-2 regular season record so far. James has been playing at an MVP level averaging 24.6 points, 11.0 assists and 8.3 rebounds. Summer arrival Anthony Davis has also been on fire with 26.6 points and 10.2 rebounds. If things keep going this way, it’s hard to see the Lakers not topping the Western Conference.
- The Hawks are 2-0 ATS in their last two games against LA.
- The Lakers are 6-4 ATS in their last 10 home games against Atlanta.
