The 5 NBA Games to Look Out for this Week
At this point, NBA teams have less than 20 games remaining this season. Which means the pressure is rising on teams still chasing for that playoffs spot and those who prefer to be in a more advantageous position when the postseason rolls around.
Nitrogen Sports Blog lists five games you don’t want to miss this week.
Boston Celtics vs Golden State Warriors – March 5th
This season has not gone exactly how the Celtics thought it would. The team has not lived up to the lofty expectations experts had for them prior to the 2018-19 NBA campaign.
Some even say they look better when Kyrie Irving is on the shelf. But they still have aspirations to take the Eastern Conference title this spring.
Steph Curry and the Warriors will provide a solid litmus test for Boston as they look to find momentum heading into the playoffs.
Houston Rockets vs Toronto Raptors – March 5th
The Raptors have one of the easiest remaining schedules in the entire NBA.
They’ll face opponents who are below .500 in 15 out of their last 20 games but will have to deal with the Rockets, who are spearheaded by a red-hot James Harden.
The Beard will try to go for another high-scoring performance, as he looks to lead Houston into another victory.
Golden State Warriors vs Denver Nuggets – March 8th
The two top teams in the Western Conference will have at it on Friday night in Mile High City.
Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets are looking like the toughest competition for the returning champs. But they will have to show that they can beat the Warriors in order for them to get universal recognition as a true contender — and not as a pretender.
Los Angeles Clippers vs Oklahoma CIty Thunder – March 8th
The Thunder will be at the end of a tough four-game road trip when they face the Clippers this week. They’ll be focused on finishing the season strong, while Paul George makes his case for MVP.
The Clippers are far from safe, so they need every win they can get. An interesting wrinkle in the playoff fight is that the Clippers will have to fight off their roommates, the Lakers.
Boston Celtics vs Los Angeles Lakers – March 9th
The most storied rivalry in basketball will write its newest chapter on Saturday.
With former teammates LeBron James and Kyrie Irving starring for their new teams, the rivalry has taken a new turn. Neither team is where they want to be right now, and both need to rack up wins down the stretch.
The Celtics are pushing for a higher seed in the Eas, while the Lakers need to treat every game as a must win for them to sneak into make the playoffs.
