Top 10 Favorites To Win The 2019 World Series

    2019 World Series Favorites

The Boston Red Sox are still celebrating their World Series success last year. The New York Yankees and the Houston Astros are preparing themselves for a serious challenge. Nitrogen Sports Blog breaks down a list of some of the MLB favorites to win the World Series this season.

    10. Atlanta Braves

The Braves were a surprise last year, when they topped the NL East with a 90-72 record — the first time since 2013 that they topped the division. They found young stars in Ronald Acuña Jr. and Ozzie Albies. And they outscored their rivals by 102 runs. The road to the top is rough for any team, but the Braves have the qualities of a squad that can be considered as among the World Series favorites this 2019.

    9. St. Louis Cardinals

The Cardinals have been focusing their energies on building a better bullpen. With a long season ahead, it could prove vital. The disappointment of missing out on three playoffs in a row could give the Cardinals the push they need.

    8. Washington Nationals

In Max Scherzer, the Nationals have one of the best pitchers in the MLB. But, the flip-flopping performances of their outfield players have been a problem. Although they won’t be counting on Bryce Harper anymore starting this season, there’s a mighty fine group of players looking to finally meet expectations.

    7. Philadelphia Phillies

Speaking of Harper, the right fielder could turn out to be the Phillies’ ace card. Last season their defense was poor, and not much can be said about their bullpen. They posted an 80 – 82 record. Philadelphia is visibly re-energized,though, following the deal with Harper.

    6. Chicago Cubs

With Kris Bryant in full health, and Addison Russell promising to be a “changed man”, the Cubs should be an improved unit. Last season, they lost the Wild Card game. But, in 2019, they have the talent to see off the challenge of the Cardinals and the Milwaukee Brewers and become NL Central champions again.

    5. Cleveland Indians

Their 91-71 record of last season was largely due to the exploits of of Francisco Lindor and Jose Ramirez. They still have roster problems. But, PECOTA projections put them top of AL Central and expect Ramirez to post a 4.9 WAR.

    4. Los Angeles Dodgers

The Dodgers have had a good run of success. They are coming off a trip top the World Series and will be entering the new season as the defending NL West champs. They stopped shy of playing the World Series on home grounds. A highly malleable roster for this season may improve things even further.

    3. Houston Astros

You just can’t argue with the chances of a team that finished with 103 wins in the 2018 season. Alex Bregman and Gerrit Cole will need to match last year’s performances, and sound replacements are needed in case a key player goes down. With solid pitching and big bats, the Astros are in the pantheon of this year’s World Series favorites.

    2. New York Yankees

The Yankees should have a fire burning inside them after last season’s bitter loss to the to the Red Sox in the playoffs. If they play to their abilities, the Yankees have a good chance of winning the World Series. Gary Sanchez, Gleyber Torres are expected to hit home runs. Yankees newcomer James Paxton will be thrust into the spotlight. Does this look like a winning team or what?

    1. Boston Red Sox

One team stands between the Yankees and success, their traditional rivals, the Red Sox. The Boston side secured the World Series, following a season with 108 wins. There’s still a great deal of quality. Mookie Betts and J.D. Martinez are some of the best hitters in the league. Their bullpen, a serious problem last season, will likely improve. It’s unlikely they’ll go 108 again, but the Red Sox remain at the top of the list to make it to the 2019 World Series..

The Red Sox are banging their chests entering the new MLB season. After all, they are the defending World Series champions. Whether they will repeat is another story, though. As stacked as Boston is, there hasn’t been a back-to-back MLB champion in almost two decades.

Will the Red Sox make it two in a row? Or will another team pull the rug underneath the World Series favorites this 2019? Make sure to check out Nitrogen Sports Blog for baseball articles and trendy MLB betting tips.
