For the first time ever, Japan will host an official PGA Tour event, with the inaugural edition of the Zozo Championship. Sounds like fun! There will be a total of 78 players expected to make up the field in the tournament, which brandishes a purse worth $9.75 million. The field is stacked with stars, among them is Tiger Woods, who will be making his season debut in this tournament following surgery on his knee.

Nitrogen Sports Blog discusses more details about the tournament, including the currently available information about the 2020 PGA Tour The Zozo Championship payout.

As mentioned earlier, the 2019 Zozo Championship payout is at $9.75 million — same as the total at the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges. The winner will also be taking home a cut worth $1.75 million. Apart from Tiger Woods, other big-name golfers heading to the Land of the Rising Sun to compete for the top prize are Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, Jordan Spieth, and homegrown star Hideki Matsuyama.

The winner of this tournament will, aside from taking home a fat check, add 500 points to his FedExCup total. McIlroy is the reigning FedExCup champion, which he won at East Lake to inject his bank account with a dizzying sum of $10 million. Like Woods, this will be McIlroy’s season debut.

As of this writing, the complete breakdown of the PGA payout for this event is unavailable, but we will be updating this article once information is officially provided.
