2020 NFL Survivor Pool Stories After Week 16

It finally comes down to this; the final week of the NFL regular season wherein winners will be crowned and losers will be heartbroken for making a deep but just-short run at our NFL Nitrogen Survivor Pools. How do the landscape of the league and our survivor pools look heading into Week 17?

Please be advised that rescheduled games can still occur prior to the final week of the regular season due to the global pandemic, and this could ultimately mean winning or losing survivor amazing survivor runs by our remaining participants. That being said, we still highly encourage all players to know what will happen to our survivor pools in the event of future cancelled or postponed games in the weeks ahead by reading up on the subject.

And with the introductions out of the way, let’s now take a closer look at the data for our Survivor Pools through 16 weeks of football, as well as our takeaways from all the action this past week:

Staying Alive at the Two-Week Warning

We’re now in the final stretch of our survivor pools, and as expected, more casualties were done in by the action from the penultimate week of the NFL regular season. Not one of our eight active NFL Nitrogen Survivor Pools has more than 50 players left standing in each pod. Furthermore, three of our pools – the Rookie, MVP, and Hall of Famer Pools – are down to single-digit survivors apiece.

On the bright side, no clear-cut winner has been declared after Week 16’s results, meaning there are plenty of aspiring winners still alive to make one last great pick for the final week of the season. Considering how cunning and methodical all our remaining contestants have been throughout the survivor campaign, we wouldn’t be surprised if multiple winners from each pool will split the massive pot that they’re aiming to win.

Do recall that last week, we already awarded a total of over $206,000 in winnings to the three finalists over at our NITROGEN Pool. With the bitcoin value reaching an all-time high with approximately a $4,000 increase in just a week’s time, our winners after Week 17’s action will definitely not be bitter about possibly sharing the prize pool with other ultimate survivors.

Bearing Down on Week 16, Horsing Around by Week 17?

As frustrating as following the Chicago Bears’ season has been for NFL fans, a good number of our survivors from Week 16 took the leap of faith in locking in Da Bears as their survivor pick. Luckily for those brave souls, Chicago had the fortunate matchup against the janky Jacksonville Jaguars, who have not won since Week 1 of the regular season.

As we’ll discuss in more detail below, the Jags are expected to be our survivors’ punching bag of choice by our remaining participants for another week, as they take on a Colts team galloping their way towards a postseason berth.

Some games to look forward to in Week 17

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Indianapolis Colts

Any survivor who held out this long to lock in the Colts as their pick of the week will likely be laughing their way to the bank after Week 17. Indy needs to win over Jacksonville to have a better shot at making the playoffs, whereas the Jaguars are in full tank mode for the rights to the first-overall pick at next year’s draft.

What’s a little bit concerning is that the Jags can still win on Sunday and not compromise their bid in the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. But with Indianapolis being the far more superior team with much more to play for, the odds of Jaguars stunning the Colts are still slim to none.

New York Jets vs. New England Patriots

Before the Jaguars, the Jets were the go-to- opposition of many survivors. However, Adam Gase’s crew bafflingly turned things around over the last two weeks with back-to-back victories over playoff contenders the Rams, and the Browns.

That being said, it might not be so foolish to think that the Jets will win its third-consecutive game to end their season on a high note considering that the No. 1 pick at the 2021 NFL Draft is no longer within their reach, especially with New England entering Week 17 on a three-game skid. The Patriots have won 12 of their last 13 meetings against Gang Green, but have looked nothing like Bill Belichick’s former teams of late whatsoever.
