Will the Golden State Warriors force a game 7?
The Warriors just extended their season by beating Toronto in Game 5, 106-105. It was a gritty win to say the least for Golden State, which had to drain pressure-packed shots in the clutch to make sure that there would be one more game at Oracle Arena. However, the Warriors, this time around, have zero speculations left on whether Kevin Durant will play or not.
Sadly, Durant sustained a serious Achilles injury in his first game back since the conference semifinals series against the Portland Trail Blazers. He won’t be around for the remainder of the series and his next season, whether he stays with the Warriors or not, is questionable at best.
In any case, the Warriors still have the Splash Brothers tandem of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson plus a seemingly rejuvenated DeMarcus Cousins. Curry had 31 points in Game 5, while Thompson had 26. The two combined for 12 of Golden State’s 20 3-pointers. Cousins, meanwhile, came off the bench and chipped in 14 points in 20 minutes.
As for the Raptors, they continue to have the upperhand in the series, needing just a win to finish the Warriors off. Another loss to Golden State would mean a Game 7, but at least that would be played in Canada.
But the Raptors surely don’t want the series to go any further. It doesn’t matter where they win the NBA Title. They’ll still be having a parade in Toronto any way if they complete the job. So will Toronto end this all up in Game 6? Or will the Warriors force a Game 7?
