Celebrate the return of UFC with 3 Nitro Squares contests for UFC 249

Tony Ferguson

There is a gaping dark void in the world of sports right now. Enter the UFC, which is not backing down from the challenge of COVID-19, as Dana White’s mixed martial arts promotion company is all set to roll out not one, not two, but three events in Florida in May, beginning with the incredibly stacked UFC 249 that will be headlined by the lightweight showdown between Tony Ferguson and Justin Gaethje on May 9 at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville.

Ferguson was originally slated to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov but travel issues brought about by the coronavirus pandemic has kept Nurmagomedov from stepping outside of Dagestan. Instead, it’s going to be Gaethje, who’ll face Ferguson, with the bout’s winner promised by White to get a title fight against Nurmagomedov.
