Nitro Brackets Contest Recap: After The Wild Baylor-Gonzaga 2021 NCAA Tournament Championship Game

The 2021 NCAA Tournament’s ending was befitting of the wild season that was. As it turned out, college basketball had one more shocker up in its sleeve and that was unleashed right in front of everyone in the championship game, as the Baylor Bears got off to a hot start defeated the previously undefeated Gonzaga Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs didn’t know what hit them. The Bears punched Gonzaga in the mouth. Instead of retaliating, the Bulldogs seemingly recoiled and let Baylor run away with the championship that was supposed to be the crowning jewel of what was still a magical season for Mark Few’s team.

Nevertheless, Baylor fully deserves the title. The Bears won the national championship game the way they have won most of their games this season: through stout defense, accurate 3-point shooting, dominant offensive rebounding, and pure determination to overpower the other team.

That win by Baylor surely impacted the final arrangements of entries in all March Madness Nitro Brackets contests. We would like to congratulate all the winners and the rest who managed to sneak into the payout windows of their respective brackets.

Exactly How 5215814 Drew It

Player 5215814 hit paydirt by riding Scott Drew’s Baylor Bears from beginning to end. The 32 points he/she got from Baylor’s win were enough to push him to the top of the FREE Bracket, giving him/her a total of 147 points.

That’s not just the most points by a player in the FREE Bracket, but in all public 2021 March Madness Nitro Brackets as well. 5215814 correctly predicted three of the four teams that reached the Final Four, only getting burned by the Texas Longhorns, who lost right away in the first round in a memorable upset win by the Abilene Chrisitan Wildcats. Gonzaga and Baylor were naturally popular picks to make the Final Four, but 5215814’s trust in Kelvin Sampson’s Houston Cougars also paid off big time.

A Close MVP Race

Player 4920504 (139 points) is the one who got the top prize in the MVP Bracket. For topping the bracket, he/she got awarded with  0.0125 BTC (~$700). All top three finishers in the MVP Bracket had the Bears winning it all, but 4920504 went 3 for 4 in the Final Four and predicted the correct Baylor-Gonzaga matchup in the national championship game as well.

4920504 also got a nice boost from picking the UCLA Bruins to not only get out of the First Round, as he/she had Johnny Juzanga and company reaching the second round, too. Not many players thought the Bruins would get that far.

Rookie Loves Them Cougars

The Rookie Bracket was won by 1237821, who also went 3 for4 in the Final Four. What separated him/her from the rest of the field was his choice of the Cougars making a deep run all the way in the national semifinals.

1237821 ended up with 144 points, also thanks in part to his bold prediction that Abilene Christian would upset the reigning Big 12 Tournament champions, Texas, right in the very first round of the Big Dance. 1237821 gets the 0.0014 BTC (~$80) top prize.
