Miami Heat vs. Boston Celtics Eastern Conference Finals Overview

The Heat got this far by sweeping the Indiana Pacers in the first round and pulling off a massive upset in the second round, in which they took out the overall top seed in the form of the Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat’s defense, outside shooting, and the leadership of Jimmy Butler are the major driving forces for the team.

The Celtics, on the other hand, are fresh off a hard-earned series win against the Toronto Raptors that took seven series to finish. Prior to that, Boston swept the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round. Like Miami, the Celtics have an elite defense and a crew of talented scorers led by Jayson Tatum and Kemba Walker.

As of this writing, the Celtics have the best scoring defense in the playoffs with just 101.4 points allowed per game, while the Heat are right behind them with opponents making just 104.7 points per contest.

Denver Nuggets vs. Los Angeles Lakers Western Conference Finals Overview

Not many thought that the Nuggets would come out alive in the first round after falling in a 3-1 series hole against the Utah Jazz. But they did. Even fewer people believed that Denver would be able to dig their way out of another 3-1 series deficit against the much-favored LA Clippers. But again, they did. Who’s to say they can’t upset the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals?

In any case, beating the Lakers in a seven-game series is a tall task for the Nuggets. The tandem of LeBron James and Anthony Davis was much for the Portland Trail Blazers and the Houston Rockets. The Nuggets have Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic to lean on, but others have to step up for Denver, as the Lakers’ defense surely has a target on those two players. Murray enters the conference finals with an average of 27.1 points per game on 50.2 FG%, while Jokic is making 25.4 PPG on 51.5 FG%.
