Nitro Brackets Contest Recap: After Day 3 of 2021 March Madness

March Madness, Oral Roberts

The 2021 March Madness has been crazy through three days of games.

What did you expect?

We have seen the “customary” first-round upsets, out-of-nowhere individual performances, and just plain madness all over the tournament, leaving millions of brackets across the nation burned, shredded, and crumpled thanks to the likes of the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, Loyola-Chicago Ramblers, and the UCLA Bruins to name a few.

It’s pretty much the same story over here at Nitro Brackets March Madness contests, with brackets getting wrecked left and right, but that’s part of the fun of the NCAA Tournament, right?

It remains anybody’s ballgame, as there is a ton of basketball action in front of us, with still the second round of the West and East Region ahead, as of this writing.

With all that being said, let’s take a look at how each of the brackets — and some of their players — are doing after three days of action in the 2021 March Madness tournament.

Not Buying The Hoo-pla

The competition is tight over at the Free Bracket, but it’s User 4948402 who’s on top at the end of Day 3 of March Madness 2021 with 36 points, the highest among all brackets, so far. User 4948402 investments in the Syracuse Orange and the Houston Cougars have paid off, as he’s one of those who predicted a Syracuse-Houston Sweet Sixteen showdown.

User 4948402 also got it right in the first-round game between the Ohio Bobcats and Virginia Cavaliers, predicting that the Hoos will be bounced out of the tournament right out of the gate just like Hoos did when they lost to the UMBC Retrievers back in 2017.

Following The Oregon (State) Trail

Over at the Hall of Fame Bracket, where 0.05 BTC is the total guaranteed prize pool, User 4971694 is the solo leader after collecting 34 points, two points ahead of all entries in that bracket.

What helped boost User 4971694’s points total is the win of the North Texas Mean Green over the Purdue Boilermakers in the first round and his/her trust in the Pac-12 champions, Oregon State Beavers, which he/she has advanced up to the Sweet Sixteen round.

The Beavers eliminated the Tennessee Volunteers in the first round then ended (likely) Cade Cunningham’s college career, as they beat the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the second round to book a date with the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers in the Sweet Sixteen.
