Who’s Got the Best Quarterback in Super Bowl 56?

Best QB Super Bowl 56

A couple of No. 4 seeds have advanced to Super Bowl 56, with the Cincinnati Bengals and Los Angeles Rams providing a fascinating quarterback matchup in the championship game. This brings the question: which team has the edge in this gunslinging battle? Read on to find out which team has the best quarterback in Super Bowl LVI below. And to be on top of all the developments from the 2022 NFL Playoffs and beyond, head on over to Nitrogen Sports Blog after this.

Making the Super Bowl 56 for Bengals QB Joe Burrow

The Bengals did the unthinkable and handed Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs their first-ever home playoff loss in as many postseasons that Mahomes has been in. And although Joe Burrow went just 23-for-38 for 250 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception, the fact that the former Heisman Trophy winner staged an 18-point comeback (tying an AFC title game record) to beat the mighty Chiefs shows his extreme poise under immense pressure in just his second season in the NFL.

Cincinnati might be a (+3.5) underdog to open the books in Super Bowl LVI, but Burrow’s rapid maturity and an elite receiving corps are certainly huge factors capable of stunning the football world yet again. The Cinderella Bengals have waited 34 long years since making it back to the big dance and Burrow is a generational talent who’s already equipped with title-winning composure from his national title run as an LSU Tiger from 2019.

Making the Super Bowl 56 Case for Rams QB Matthew Stafford

It turned out that Matthew Stafford was the answer to the Rams’ all-in push towards a Super Bowl title this season. It took the third meeting between them and the 49ers to finally break the curse against their fierce division rivals, and it was the former first-overall pick out of Georgia who had the biggest game of his life at just the right moment.

Like Burrow before him, Stafford had one costly pick against the Niners. However, the 33-year-old veteran threw for more yards (337) to go with his two TD passes. LA’s receiving duo of Cooper Kupp and Odell Beckham Jr. combined for 20 catches, 255 receiving yards, and two scores as a viable counter to Cincinnati’s own pass-catching tandem of Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins. Stafford has over a decade of experience in the NFL over Burrow, as well as an impressive Rams defense in his aid to finally win the big one.

Final Verdict

It’s pretty much a toss-up between one’s preference in their quarterback skill sets. Burrow is more dynamic and has the trend of young QBs in the elite-tier conversation along with Mahomes, Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson, and Kyler Murray working in his favor.

Meanwhile, Stafford is the grizzled-old vet who’s poised to pull off a Tom Brady from just last season; a terrific play-caller having virtual home-field advantage in the Super Bowl after just one season with a new team. Stafford being rewarded with a Lombardi trophy after languishing for so long in Detroit is a nice feel-good story, but so too is Burrow’s emergence as the real deal; season-ending knee injury in his shortened rookie campaign notwithstanding.
