What to know about Errol Spence Jr.

Errol Spence Jr. vs. Yordenis Ugas betting odds for Spence: -667

With an undefeated 27-0 record in the ring (21 wins via knockout), Errol Spence Jr. is sitting pretty on top of the boxing world. However, fame and glory came a-knocking in 2019, as a single-vehicle accident nearly derailed the 32-year-old’s career.

Thankfully, Spence did not suffer any serious injuries nor did he harm innocent bystanders at the time of his self-imposed car crash. Instead, Spence got back into action in December of 2020 and successfully defended his WBC and IBF titles in 12 hard-fought rounds against Danny Garcia.

As a Dallas resident, Spence will undoubtedly have the crowd at AT&T Stadium behind him this weekend. This was also the same venue wherein he defeated the aforementioned Garcia in their 2020 bout, albeit with almost a year-and-a-half passing since his last sanctioned fight in any venue, Ring rust may be a huge factor for “The Truth”, who also suffered an eye injury which led to the cancellation of his supposed mega-fight against boxing legend Manny Pacquiao last August.

What to know about Yordenis Ugas

Errol Spence Jr. vs. Yordenis Ugas betting odds for Ugas: +475

Speaking of Pacquiao, it was Yordenis Ugas who stepped in for Spence to take on Pacman that same August last year. The current WBA Super Welterweight champion successfully defended his title for the very first time against one of the best boxers in history to pick up the biggest victory of his career to date.

That win over Pacquiao gave Ugas enough leverage to demand a unification title bout against Spence, which was not made official until earlier this February. Nevertheless, the cunning Cuban counter-hitter enters the Lone Star State with a four-fight win streak and a glowing 12-1 record since 2016.

However, that one blemish on Ugas’ run came against Shawn Porter in 2019, with Porter successfully defending his WBA belt in a split decision against “54 Milagros”. But with a title-winning effort over Abel Ramos followed by a landmark victory over Pacquiao as his latest outputs, Ugas is in fantastic form as his quest for more gold only intensifies.
