Great Actors Who Didn’t Get the Oscar

January 20, 2016 | Others Great Actors Without Oscar

It’s that time of the year again; time to roll out the red carpet and watch celebrities and filmmakers receive recognition for all their hard work (as if the millions of dollars wasn’t enough). But let’s not forget the other great actors who have delivered great performances but have yet to win themselves an Oscar.

    1.  Edward Norton

Ed has been nominated for an Academy award on three separate occasions, including for Best Actor in 1999 for his performance in American History X. Unfortunately he lost to Roberto Benigni for his performance in Life is Beautiful… Who the hell is Roberto Benigni?

    2. Harrison Ford

Unfortunately, he didn’t receive much recognition from the Academy for his work in Blade Runner, Indiana Jones, Star Wars, or the Jack Ryan series. But Harrison was nominated for Best Actor in ’85 for his role in Witness. He ended up losing to William Hurt in Kiss of the Spider Woman.

    3. Sigourney Weaver

Sigourney has received the nomination for Best Actress twice (87, 89) and also received another nomination for Best Supporting Actress that same year in 1989. Tough luck Ripley.

    4. Gary Oldman

It’s hard to believe that every actor’s favorite actor hasn’t won an Oscar yet. In fact, he only received his first and only nomination in 2012 for Best actor in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, and he lost to Jean Dujardin in The Artist.

    5. Leonardo DiCaprio

Of course, this list would not be complete with out Leo – The poster child for great actors who never won an Oscar. He’s been nominated on 4 separate occasions but has never managed to take home award. This year, Leo is a pretty heavy favorite for the Best Actor – Check the Oscar betting odds here – But many are still skeptical whether fighting a bear will be enough to earn him the nod.
